Dearest friends, it has been a busy week. We have a lot of news to report.
Let me first begin by saying a special “Thank You” to kindred spirits
across the miles in Chase BC, for helping us get through a very real dark and
hungry night two weeks ago. You know who you are. Gracias con todo nuestros
corazon. For the likes of you, we will do our best to shine and share your positive
energy for others in challenging times. The essence of the Single Moms Sewing
Center.
Eye Protection Delivered
And “Thank You” to Dr. David Kendrick and friends for riding out
to Cangrejo to deliver protective lens for our campasino brothers and sisters.
A fun day on horse back had by all. Dr. Kendrick was recently in San Juan Del
Sur with a group of volunteers from VOSH (Volunteer Optometry Services to Humanity).
There were two VOSH clinics offered in Nicaragua this year. Group one worked
in San Juan Del Sur between January 8th to 12th, headed by Audrey and Matt Blondin.
Group two headed by Dr. Joe D’Amico and Dr. Jay Jordan, will be offering
free optometry service in a community called San Carlos, at the mouth of the
Rio San Juan starting January 20th.
Group one of VOSH has completed their mission in San Juan Del Sur and returned
to the USA/Canada. World Kids is grateful to Mr. Kendrick and friends for taking
the time to also visit our village and distribute much needed eye protection.
Sewing Center Update: An exciting arrival...

We now have two sewing stations set up along with a small inventory
of material. The goal is to set up 10 complete sewing stations and set up a
day-care center so the children of the seamstress have a safe and clean environment
to play, while they, the woman, can concentrate on their tasks at hand.
