Rain Rain and More Rain

Streets of San Juan Del Sur

“RAIN RAIN RAIN go away…please come back another day”

With all the wet chaos going on in the world these days, I promise you it is just as hard to report in from Nicaragua, the hemispheres poorest “off the map” country. According to the HDI (Human Development Index) 80% of the world’s population lives in third world poverty. And so here we are.

It’s been a wet rainy season 2005. San Juan Del Sur is now into its 25th day of non-stop torrential rain. We’ve had 3 major storms blow in from the west. Where does all the weather come from? Thankfully, other than a few homes washed away there have been no reported deaths in San Juan as a result of this month’s drenching. Northern Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala have not been so lucky.
